California Competes

Higher Education for a Strong Economy

California Competes develops non-partisan and financially pragmatic recommendations for improved policies and practices in California higher education. We operate with a triple bottom-line in mind: to increase the number of degrees and credentials produced in the state, to ensure that degree production is equitably distributed so that a greater share of low-income and underrepresented students earn those degrees, and to ensure that the state’s economic development needs are met by producing the types of degrees and credentials most likely to support a robust economy. We work at the nexus of opportunity, economic growth and educational equity.
