TCWF Conference on Work and Health

April 19 - 20, 2010
Los Angeles, California

PURPOSE:
The conference will bring together executive directors and lead program staff from organizations committed to improving the health of California's low-wage workers. Conference plenary sessions, workshops and roundtable discussions will be tailored to the diverse experiences and interests of conference participants. The sessions will focus on cross-cutting issues and best practices related to access to health care; preventive health education; occupational health and safety; and outreach to target populations. Also featured will be sessions of interest to worker centers and organizations providing health services to farmworkers, and sessions designed to improve organizational capacity.

Participants will learn from each other and invited experts, and explore strategies to strengthen their community outreach, education programs and efforts to inform policymakers on issues affecting low-wage workers. By the end of the conference we expect participants to be inspired and equipped with concrete ideas and contacts to leverage the work of their individual organizations and the broader networks in which they engage around work and health issues.
