Former Los Angeles City Council Member Joy Picus represented the West San Fernando Valley from 1977-1993. With a reputation as an effective and responsive elected official who got the job done, Picus continues her civic leadership as a board member of several nonprofit organizations. She is currently serving as Chair of the Board of Friends of the (Griffith) Observatory. She is on the board of Jewish World Watch, an organization concerned with egregious violations of human rights worldwide. In addition to serving on the Foundation Board of California State University Northridge, Joy is a member of Dean’s Councils for several of its colleges. She is a proud alumna of the University of Wisconsin, and a member of the Board of Visitors for the College of Letters and Science.
