1-800-volunteer is a database of nation-wide volunteer opportunities powered by a volunteer management system for non-profits.
AmeriCorps
AmeriCorps, a program of the Corporation for National and Community Service, engages individuals in one or two years of service in nonprofit, charitable, and faith or community-based organizations across the country to meet needs in education, public safety, health, and the environment.
Volunteer Center of Los Angeles
VCLA is a volunteer network helping individuals find opportunities to serve their communities, and helping connect nonprofits with committed volunteers through an online database and a careful referral process.
Idealist.org
A project of Action Without Borders, this site allows volunteers, job seekers and organizations to post or browse local, national and international volunteer, internship and career opportunities.
Charity America
A more exclusive site, it allows nonprofits to register online for donations and volunteers. All nonprofits must have been in existence for three years or more.
Craigslist
Craigslist provides local online classifieds for communities across the country. To view or post service opportunities in your area, follow the community link to the volunteer section. Job postings may also be submitted for a fee.
Points of Light Foundation
Through a variety of programs and services, the Foundation encourages people from all walks of life to volunteer. The site features a number of tools and resources for organizations to build their capacity to effectively use volunteers.
SERVEnet
Seeking to engage young people in service and service-learning, SERVEnet, a program of Youth Service America, provides volunteer management and planning resources as well as a searchable index of volunteer listings throughout the country.
