BBB Wise Giving Alliance
The BBB Wise Giving Alliance was formed with the merger of the National Charities Information Bureau and the Council of Better Business Bureaus Foundation. The Alliance offers information to donors so they can make an informed giving decision by evaluating different nonprofit organizations.
The Chronicle of Philanthropy
A bi-weekly print and online publication, The Chronicle features information on gifts and grants as well as news articles on issues critical to the philanthropic sector such as fundraising, nonprofit management and technology. National job listings and links to other web sites are also included.
Charity Channel
CharityChannel is a resource that connects people to their nonprofit colleagues across town, across the country, and around the world. Services include forum discussion lists, e-newsletters, updated news links, book reviews, job postings and advice and information from nonprofits to benefit other nonprofits. There are also a variety of grant opportunities.
GuideStar
GuideStar provides a free guide and Internal Revenue Service information for more than 600,000 charities and nonprofit organizations. Has helpful information for those in all sectors designed to create a more transparent and accountable nonprofit community.
Internet Nonprofit Center
A project of the Evergreen State Society, the Internet Nonprofit Center hosts a nonprofit FAQ - an information resource composed of information drawn from online discussions and other internet-based resources. Topic headers include: organization, management, regulation, resources, and development.
Nonprofit Quarterly
The mission of Nonprofit Quarterly is to increase the knowledge, power and effectiveness of nonprofits by delivering information that is timely, relevant and useful. This quarterly print publication provides in-depth analysis on themes critical to nonprofit managers and leaders. Subscribers also receive a monthly e-newsletter and shorter actionable articles addressing management concerns.
The Nonprofit Times
An online version of the organization's newspaper; this site gives access to articles and news about philanthropy and nonprofit organizations as well as an online directory and web links to other nonprofit sites. Offers a unique service called Action Deck which allows you to browse through beneficial ideas for nonprofits.
Philanthropy Journal Online
A publication of the A.J. Fletcher Foundation, this site delivers news, information and opinion about charitable giving, fundraising and management, focusing in particular on organizational effectiveness, donor engagement and collaboration. Sign up for a weekly e-mail bulletin or check back for daily information updates.
Southern California Grantmakers (SCG)
SCG is a regional membership association of private-sector grantmakers whose mission is to support and advance effective and responsible philanthropy for the public good. (SCG provides educational services for members to enhance their capacity to give effectively. As such, SCG does not make grants and does not help organizations fundraise.) The website provides useful links relevant to the sector.
UCLA Center for Civil Society
The mission of the CCS is to become the academic center of excellence for the study of civil society, philanthropy, nonprofit and community organizations and leadership. The Center coordinates teaching on nonprofit organizations and aspects of civil society, conducts research, and offers seminars, conferences, and executive education.
