Why

Social entrepreneurs need opportunities to establish their ideas, an infrastructure to be effective, and the capacity to develop leadership skills.

To succeed, complex community initiatives and networks require skilled coordination, support and technical assistance to build capacity. Solid, accurate information and access to the appropriate resources is the key to success. Helping project leaders make connections to move their efforts forward is a constant at Community Partners.
What We offer fiscal sponsorship, guidance and counsel to fledgling projects, allowing their leadership to work on their idea immediately, without the red tape and hassles of starting a nonprofit.

We also provide the latest capacity-building information, techniques and training for nonprofit management. Learn more about our Core Competencies.

We partner with organizations, networks, funders and government agencies to address key issues throughout the state and link community needs with resources. We serve an important convening and connecting role for civic and social entrepreneurs. It happens formally, through our peer learning groups, networks and workshops. It also happens informally, as our staff, Board of Directors and Project Leaders provide access to important resources and key decision-makers in government, philanthropy, business and other nonprofit organizations.

Also, our Special Reports provide in-depth studies of issues essential to the health of the region.

The Durfee Foundation came to Community Partners to support a peer learning group of their grant recipients, maximizing the impact of Durfee’s grants. Community leaders call Community Partners for critical, but often difficult to find information – one group was exploring whether or not to start an after-school program for neighborhood children and called Community Partners for help. Our staff was able to help them determine if other programs already existed in their neighborhood and connected them to other excellent after-school programs in the region.
